Here we are already at week three of the one-room challenge! Things are slowly starting to look different in our family room. This past week we repaired the walls that had been damaged by kids, filled in endless nail holes, and took down the old blinds.
That was a huge victory for me because my husband argued for them the last 9 years. This week I decided on and ordered curtains which will make a dramatic difference not just in this room, but on our whole first level.
Last week I told you I had a project that I would show you, but I've decided I want to wait until reveal day, it's just that important to me. The project is a large piece of art I painted for the main wall of our Family Room. I can tell you it's full of texture, has a neutral color palette, and holds special meaning for our family. I took the sisal rug from Magnolia Home Target out of our bedroom to layer over the existing one in the family room, and I'm happy with the change because it lightens up the space.
My sons have been helping throughout our first ORC, and each took on a project of their own. My oldest shortened the legs of a counter stool which we're turning into a small side table, and is sanding it down so we have some raw wood in this space. My youngest son wanted to help as well, and is doing a great job entertaining his sisters so I can work on this project. There's still so much work to be done, but we're making progress and things are coming together.
